How the poll was conducted (AP)
The Associated Press-GfK Poll on Medicare and Social Security was conducted by GfK Roper Public Affairs & Corporate Communications from May 5-9. It is supported on line and cancellated ring interviews with a nationwide allegoric haphazard sample of 1,001 adults. Interviews were conducted with 700 respondents on line telephones and 301 on cancellated phones.
Digits in the sound numbers dialed were generated arbitrarily to accomplish households with otc and traded line and radiotelephone numbers.
Interviews were conducted in both arts and Spanish.
As is finished routinely in surveys, results were weighted, or adjusted, to ensure that responses accurately emit the population's cosmetics by factors much as age, sex, activity and race. In addition, the weighting took into account patterns of sound use — line only, radiophone exclusive and both types — by region.
No more than 1 time in 20 should quantity variations in the sample cause the results to vary by more than plus or harmful 4.2 proportionality points from the answers that would be obtained if all adults in the U.S. were polled.
There are another sources of potential error in polls, including the phraseology and visit of questions.
