Cuba: Jailed US contractor appeals 15-year sentence (AFP)

HAVANA (AFP) – A US contractor jailed in state for distributing laptop computers has filed an attractiveness of his 15-year situation sentence, the head of the suite said on Saturday.

Alan Gross, 61, was convicted last period of "acts against the independence or territorial integrity" of Cuba, in a case that unnatural already delicate relations between the United States and Cuba's communist government.

"An attractiveness has been presented. It has been placed at the disposal of judges who are dealing with the matter," said Ruben Remigo Ferro, chief official of Cuba's Supreme Court.

Gross was arrested in Dec 2009 for allegedly delivering laptops and communications equipment to Cuba's diminutive person community, though the community's leaders hit denied that.

The US State Department has titled for the promulgation of Gross, arguing that his situation declare was an "injustice."

There's no deadline for the suite to conception on an appeal.
