India Arrests Top Executive of Etisalat Joint Venture (PC World)

India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has inactive the vice-chairman of Etisalat DB Telecom, a ambulatory services render venture.

Shahid Balwa was inactive in unification with ongoing investigations into questionable irregularities in the portion of 2G licenses and spectrum in 2008, a spokesman for the CBI said on Wednesday. Balwa is to be produced in suite in city on Wednesday.

The country's past telecommunications minister, A. Raja, and digit key subject servants in the telecommunications ministry were inactive last hebdomad in unification with these investigations.

Irregular allocations of 2G licenses and spectrum in 2008 to whatever Indian operators may hit cost the land about US$39 billion, according to a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bharat (CAG), that was presented in India's Parliament in November.

Balwa is also managing director of DB Realty which promoted Swan Telecom, one of the companies that CAG said had benefited from the product allocation of licenses and spectrum. DB Realty subsequently sold a 45 proportionality wager in the consort to Etisalat, and the consort was renamed as Etisalat DB Telecom in 2009. Etisalat is the biggest ambulatory assist provider in the United Semite Emirates.

Etisalat DB Telecom did not move to a letter for comment on the arrest.
