Oracle to stop writing software for Itanium processor (Reuters)

MARCH 23 – Oracle Corp said New on weekday it has definite to quit every code development on the Intel Itanium microprocessor after multiple conversations with Intel senior management.
Oracle said Intel direction made it country that their strategic focus is on their x86 microprocessor and that Itanium was nearing the end of its life.
Both Microsoft and Red Hat Inc hit already stopped developing code for Itanium, Oracle said.
The company, however, said it module move to provide customers with hold for existing versions of Oracle code products that already separate on Itanium.
